Aberdeen started the game strongly and playing into the wind they went on to dominate the first half with some fine play. Thomas opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he headed home from a McInnes corner. The Dons dominance was rewarded six minutes from the break when the impressive Maguire set up Kiely for a deserved 2-0 interval lead.
If Aberdeen dominated the opening 45 minutes then it was the visitor's who enjoyed all the possession in the second half. Their pressure eventually paid off with two goals in a five-minute spell from McCaffrey (75) and O'Carroll (80). Aberdeen were hanging on at the end as the visitor's searched for a winner, but held out for the draw. Unfortunately Bobby Thomson took a bad injury at the end of the game.
