Heart of Midlothian 0 - 1 Aberdeen

ABERDEEN have won the Mitchell Cup for the third time. They triumphed over Hearts by the only goal of the match in the second of the home-and-home finals at Tynecastle to make the aggregate 4-3.
It has been a great season for the Dons. They have carried off three of the four honours. They were beaten by a single point for the championship of the first League series. They annexed the Supplementary Cup, won the second League tournament, and now the Mitchell Cup is in their custody.

Aberdeen owe their success at Tynecastle to their great defence, especially during the first twenty minutes of the second half, when Hearts were definitely on top and the Dons had their backs to the wall.
But the Aberdeen defence never faltered and their great effort proved the turning point in the game.
The winning goal - a grand one - was scored by Baird at inside left, who first-timed a cross from Armstrong, who was out on the right. Watters in the Hearts' goal got his hand to the ball but could not stop it.
While Hearts were the better team for the greater part of the second half, th£ Dons played the better football in the first half and were unlucky not to be in the lead at the interval. A Pattlllo header struck the post and the ball was scrambled away.
Outstanding In the Aberdeen team was Dunlop - a great pivot. Others who contributed largely to the victory were Johnstone, McKenna, Dyer, Bremner Taylor, Armstrong and Baird.
The cup was presented to Captain Dunlop at the finish by Mr John McArthur, the president of the North-Eastern League.
Edinburgh has not won a single football honour this season, for Hibs were beaten in the final of the Summer Cup by Partick Thistle by two clear goals.
