Weak Finishing Costs Dons Points

THE Dons did not cover themselves with glory in their last League game at Easter Road.

They played like champions in the outfield and like novices inside the penalty area. The result was that they lost a game they should have won.
Hibs were little more impressive than the Dons at goalmouth, but they did seize two of their opportunities. Johnstone in the Dons' goal did well. He had no chance with the shots that beat him. Graham had an easier time than George Thomson at back, but both were sound.

HALF-BACKS GOOD

The half-backs were good. Waddell deserves praise for his smart display against the dynamic Milne, and Jock Thomson did excellent work in forcing the attack.
All five forwards were clever in the outfield, but weak at close quarters. Williams was full of tricks.
Taylor on the left was strong and forceful, but Pattillo was not so prominent as usual. Ferguson and Bain spoiled their clever play by wild shooting.
Hibs were well served defence by Kerr. Clark. Kane and Fleming. Honours in front went to Mayes, the match winner, Milne and Gilmartin.

THE GOALS

Twelve minutes of the second half had gone before Hibs opened their account. Milne headed on a lob from Fleming, and when Waddell failed to intercept. Mayes seized his chance to find the net with a hard drive.
The inside right repeated the performance ten minutes from the end. This time Davidson provided the chance.
