Aberdeen A played Dundee A at Dens Park in a Northern League fixture. Mr. Phillip, Dunfermline, was referee.
Dundee A: Laburn; Darroch, Lyon; Taylor, McAteer, Bruce; Low, Nimmo, Cowie, Anderson, Fairweather.
But to Aberdeen A: Barrett; McNicol, Brebner; Milne, Thompson, Robertson; Ward, Hilton, Hamilton, Cruikshank, Smith.
Aberdeen won the toss, and both teams pressed at the start, little of note of collaring. Anderson was fouled by McNicol within the line, I and, although he got two tries, McAteer failed to notch of goal. Some spirited play followed. Splendid chance fell to Hamilton. His shot was stopped by Laburn, but not cleared, and Ward picked up the rebound. From a glorious position he shot too high. Fairweather, the hard-working outside left of the home team, tested Barrett with a grand shot, and the interval arrived with no scoring.
Dundee pressed severely on resuming, and after five minutes' play they got a goal in a scrimmage. But Barrett knocked down a ball from Cowie, and Low succeeded in keeping it in play. Anderson caught it, and promptly opened the scoring. Aberdeen retaliated with vigour, and Smith brought Laburn into action, but the goalkeeper cleared. Are run by Anderson left Nimmo with an opening, which was feebly used, and for Aberdeen Ward sent in brilliantly from the line. The Dundee men shot very badly. Cowie just missed with the clever shot, but the next minute he put on a grand goal from a cross by the right. A hard game ended. Gate and stands amounted to £20.
