HT Score: Dundee Wanderers 0 - 0 Aberdeen

Northern League
Dundee Wanderers scorers: Clinton
Aberdeen scorers: Gault, Robertson.

09/03/1907 | KO:

Aberdeen A travelled to meet Dundee Wanderers on Saturday on Northern League business. Teams:-

Wanderers: Orr; Kirkland, Wyllie; Hogan, Fenton, Boyd; McLeish, Barnes, Reid, McLaren, Clinton.
Aberdeen A: Mutch; Urquhart, Willox; Davidson, JJ Simpson, Robertson; John Robertson, James Robertson, Gault, Lawrie, Caie.
Referee - John Bell, Dundee.

Wanderers started off before a fair attendance, and a foul was granted, from which Kirkland landed the ball right into the goalkeeper's hands. Aberdeen forced their way down the field, but failed to score. The Wanderers had a strong defence, and kept Aberdeen well in hand. Burns then had a splendid try for goal, which Mutch saved grandly, but at the expense of a corner, which went for nothing. Aberdeen's goal was being bombarded, but Mutch rose to the occasion. Play was spoiled by a heavy fall of snow, and again Wanderers failed, Reid brushing the bar with a fast shot.

The second moiety opened quietly, Aberdeen having the best of the exchange's. The men from the north rushed up in a body, and Gault, with an open goal in front of him, scored. John Robertson added to Aberdeen's score 2 minutes later. A few minutes from time Clinton scored for Dundee Wanderers.

The A's also Win.

It is a long time now since we recorded a double victory for Aberdeen. The A's have been unfortunate in losing by the odd goal, and it was about time they were showing up a bit. In their last away match, at Clepington Park, with the Wanderers, practically a new forward line was introduced, and they seem to have come off in the goal scoring for they won by 2-1. There was little seen of nice football, but the ball was kept going ahead, Aberdeen never losing grip of the game from the very start. Carr and John Robertson were the most prominent forwards, while the halves as usual were in tip-top form. Willox was the best back, while Mutch was safe in goal.
