Airdrieonians 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Scottish Reserve League
Airdrieonians scorers: Tom Murray
Aberdeen scorers: Murray.

09/10/1909 | KO:

The Reserve League match between the Aberdeen and Airdrieonian's A team at Airdrie ended in a draw of one goal each. The result was distinctly creditable to the Aberdeen players who, after their long railway journey, had to drive straight to the field. Tom Murray, who appeared at inside left, scored the goal for Aberdeen, and almost succeeded in obtaining a second near the close with a fast shot on the run. The Aberdeen A team had to undergo several alterations at the last minute. King, although he travelled with the team, was unable to play owing to a damaged finger, but R. S. Clark (University) willingly took the club out of a difficulty, and kept a very good goal. The Aberdeen officials are fortunate in having the player to fall back upon. Hannah is credited with being the best back on the field, his display being a feature of the match. Harper was a little unsteady at the start, but soon gained confidence, and in the second half played a fine game. The three half-backs were always prominent. Macfarlane was specially good at the start of the game, although Davidson was perhaps the most effective, taking the game all through. Low was plucky to a degree, and never shirked his work. Murray and MacEachern were the pick of the forwards, while Scott, at inside right, gave his partner every assistance.
