Aberdeen A visited Dens Park on Saturday to meet Dundee A in the first round of the 2nd XI cup. Teams:-
Dundee: Philip; McRobbie, Lawson; Comrie, McEwan, Gowans; Law, J. Philip, Langlands, Graydon, Dickson.
Aberdeen: Greig; Hannah, Harper; Davidson, Macfarlane, Robertson; Hay, Hendry, Nichol, Edgar, Neilson.
Referee - Mr. Kelso, Hamilton.
For a time the local men did the bulk of the pressing, and a fine run by Dickon brought the initial point, the outside man parting to Langlands, who scored. After a narrow escape had Greig's end, Aberdeen broke off on the right, and when Nichol slipped between the Dundee defence he had an easy task in securing the equaliser. From this point on to the interval Aberdeen had a more equal share of the game, and Neilson on the left performed well for the visitors.
Facing the wind in the second period, the northerners had enough to do to keep out the bombardment to which their goal was subjected. Graydon got the leading point for Dundee, and then ensued an exciting time of Greig's end, three penalty kicks being turned over the bar. Greig was showing up well between the posts, but while he made a plucky effort to save another, the relief was only temporary, for Graydon was in position and scored.
