Play.Falkirk on Saturday, before 500 spectators. Teams:-
Falkirk: Drysdale; Copland, Gibson; Red, McRae, Allan; Dock, Bain, Todd, Bennie, Terris.
Aberdeen: Greig; Hannah, Harper; Davidson, Macfarlane, Watson; Hay, Towns, Hendry, Edgar, Robertson.
Referee - Mr. Nisbet, Edinburgh.
There was little of an outstanding character in the opening play. Bennie and Terris were the first there to get within goal range, but Aberdeen's backs relieved in the nick of time. A lengthy stay by Aberdeen's forwards in front of Falkirk's goal produced no advantage. The visitors were playing a vigorous game, and had the bulk of the play. Hendry was following the ball to the goal front when Drysdale rushed out and cleared. There was a revival in Falkirk's aggressive form later, but their forwards seemed nowhere when they got into close quarters with the Aberdeen defence, but Dock, with the goal at his mercy, recklessly shot past the post. For a brief. Falkirk game acted on the defensive. The attack now lacked sting, and Falkirk assumed mastery.
Aberdeen opened the second half in grand style. Robertson, who was possibly the best forward on the field, and his work was earlier value for a goal, gave the visitors the lead with a beautiful effort. Getting the ball on Aberdeen left wing he crossed it right up under the bar. Falkirk did their utmost to equalize, but Aberdeen's defence beat them at every point.
