Aberdeen 1 - 0 Dundee Hibernian

HT Score: Aberdeen 1 - 0 Dundee Hibernian

Northern League
Aberdeen scorers: Nichol.

24/04/1911 | KO:

Dundee Hibs paid their first visit to Aberdeen when the opposed Aberdeen A in a Northern League match at Pittodrie last night, and lost by one goal to nil. There was a small garnering of spectators, and, with occasional showers of rain, the conditions were by no means favorable. The teams were:-

Aberdeen A: Greig; Hannah, Hume; Watson, Macfarlane, Low; Hay, Towns, W. D. Nichol, Edgar, Neilson.
Dundee Hibs: Tullos; Welsh, Izatt; Fyfe, Loney, Govan; Dunnain, Edwards, Gibson, Docherty, D. Weir.
Referee - Mr. A. Watt, Aberdeen.

Some good played by both sides was seen in the first half, when Aberdeen were immeasurably the superior side, and except for occasional bursts by the visiting forwards were for the greater part on the aggressive. Loney was injured in the face and retired, and it was while the Hibs were thus handicapped that Nichol scored a characteristic goal. Later Loney returned, but Aberdeen continued to attack, and Nichol, Edgar, Neilson, Hay, and Low all had tries, which Tullos had to clear. Hibs almost scored through Gibson, but Hume cleared after Greig had nearly let through. Playing throughout the period was of a strenuous nature, with the homesters deserving their lead.

The second half's play was practically a repetition of that of the first period. The home side repeatedly attacked, and Tullos' charge had numerous narrow escapes. In a scrimmage, he saved three times in succession from Nichol, Towns, and Hay. Weakness and finishing lost many chances for the homesters, but Nichol from a solo run had one great shot, which Tullos' cleared, and another time he tipped over the bar after the centre had rushed the backs. Neilson repeatedly sworn in beautiful centres, but the weakness of the inside forwards accounted for these going on improved upon. The visitors were completely outclassed, and their margin of defeat might quite easily have been greater.
