Raith Rovers opened their Scottish Reserve League programme on Saturday with Aberdeen A providing the opposition at Starks park, Kirkcaldy, in glorious weather. Teams:-
Aberdeen A: King; Hannah, Harper; McCann, Watson, Low; Campbell, Brown, Dalziel, Edgar, Wilson.
Raith Rovers: Ewing; Philip, Collier; Gibson, Wilson, Leitch; Alexander, McLay, Chalmers, Thomson, McNeill.
Referee - Mr. Martin, Falkirk.
Raith rovers started briskly, Chalmers testing king in the first minute. Ewing saved from Campbell.
Rovers resumed the attack, the visiting defenders proving a strong barrier. Thomson shot narrowly past. Edgar tested viewing with a long drive. Ewing saved on the ground from Dalziel. At the other end King cleared a fast shot from Chalmers. King punted the ball over the bar with great cleverness. Edgar shot over the bar from close range. In his next attempt he forced Ewing to handle. Raith got down, McClay beating King. Travers, with an open goal, shot weekly past. A second later, King effected a great save from Chalmers.
Chalmers raced in single handed, beating two players en route, King effecting a great clearance on the goal line. Aberdeen attacked Brown knocking the ball down with his hand in the rovers goalmouth.
