Rapid Scoring At Pittodrie - Reserves Easy Victory

At Aberdeen. Nelson, for Aberdeen, did signal service. The visitors were fortunate in having Ewing in goal. Their defeat would have been heavier but for him.

In the reserve league game at Pittodrie, Aberdeen A defeated Raith rovers A by 3 goals to 2.

THE GAME

Aberdeen won the toss, and Raith Rovers kicked off two wards the pavilion end. Aberdeen were soon on the move, but J. H. Neilson missed at close quarters. Aberdeen pressed hard, but J. H. Neilson overran, and the result was nil. Charlie Neilson crossed to McIntosh, who sent wide.
C. Neilson centred to McIntosh, but that player was decidedly offside. The Rovers then took up the running, and Harper cleared well. The Rovers pressed hard, and in front of King there was an exciting minute or so, but the goalkeeper knocked the ball and man well clear. A repeated attack went for nothing. McIntosh took the ball down in a clever manner, and passed to C. Neilson, who, in trying to centre, sent too far back. Aberdeen again pressed, and Stewart Davidson had a good try. He sent the leather right into Ewing's hands, however, and Ewing cleared easily.
Aberdeen were pressing no, and Charlie Neilson was centring well, but it was all to no avail. The whistle blew with the Rovers leading by the only goal.

When changing ends Aberdeen started smartly, Dickson centring well, but nothing resulted. Dickson was not to be beaten, however, and 7 minutes after the restart he equalised. J. H. Neilson very soon followed with a second. McIntosh nearly scored the third, but Ewing was too good for him this time. Aberdeen seemed no to be livened up, and went hard against Gibson and Collier. They were shooting and shooting, but nothing ever came of it.
Aberdeen pressed for a time, but it was give-and-take, and although Aberdeen had several chances, they were all missed. J. H. Neilson was in fine position, but failed to convert.
Aberdeen were pressing at the finish, but could not secure the lead. A fine effort by Aberdeen, however, just 4 minutes from the finish culminated in Edgar footing his side one up. Tremendous cheering followed Edgar's brilliant effort.

N.B. The reporter seems to have been confused at the scoring sequence and omitted to name the Raith scorers, or indeed describe their second goal. AFCHT
