Reserves Bold Bid
Aberdeen reserves made a bold bid for the northern league points at Arbroath, where the local United beat them in a high-scoring game by 5 goals to 3. As the result, the Pittodrie Reserves of deposed from the leadership in the competition, the honour now going to Brechin City. The game and Gayfield was fast and keen. Aberdeen opened the scoring through Green, and Smith almost immediately equalised, while, before the interval, Nairn put the home team ahead.
It was a sensational second half. Nairn put Arbroath further ahead and Milne secured a fourth. Calvert reduced the lead with a ferry fine effort, and Robertson put through a third for Aberdeen. The game in the closing stages was full of incident, but Milne put the issue beyond doubt by again counting for Arbroath.
