There was a fair attendance at Pittodrie, where Aberdeen Reserves met a team representing the 3rd Battalion Gordon Highlanders.

The highlanders attacked at the outset, and Risk, the former Queen's Park player, sent across a fine ball, but Moir cleverly headed clear. Aberdeen Reserves took up the running, and Stalker got through the backs, but with practically an open goal, sent weakly behind. Jameson, Aberdeen's inside right, had a good try, but the ball went past. Risk was prominent for the Highlanders with smart runs and judicious crosses. Ramsay forced a corner for the Gordons, but Aberdeen's defence got the ball away without difficulty. Moving into range, Stalker, Aberdeen's centre, shot hard, but Hunter saved cleverly. The Gordons had a dangerous run, but Anderson saved.

On the resumption play was for a few minutes in the Aberdeen end. The Reserves afterwards got away. Duff ran close in, but sent the ball behind when a goal seemed a certainty. Shortly afterwards Jameson accepted a cross from MacLeod and scored. The Highlanders invaded, and Anderson saved splendidly from Ramsay. Play was again transferred. McLeod and Jameson, by excellent combined work, made progress. The outside right finished by sending a highball into goal. Hunter got his hands on the ball, but could not clear effectively, and Stalker dashed up and scored Aberdeen's second goal. Some give and take play followed, Aberdeen being, however, more often on the offensive. Forbes had a grand try, the ball striking the crossbar. After smart work by Aberdeen's right wing, Stalker scored an easy goal. A fourth goal came to the ground team through Stalker. From a pass by Risk, Paton scored for the Gordons.
