Fraserburgh 2 - 1 Aberdeen

HT Score: Fraserburgh 1 - 0 Aberdeen

Aberdeenshire Cup
Fraserburgh scorers: Taylor, Paterson
Aberdeen scorers: MacFarlane.

28/01/1911 | KO:

Fraserburgh and Aberdeen A met in the Bellslea Park, Fraserburgh, on Saturday afternoon in that semi-final tie of the Aderdeenshire County Cup. There was a large spectator eight, fully 1500 to lining the ropes. Mister R. Massie, Peterhead, was referee, and the teams took the field as follows:-

Fraserburgh: Milne; Finnie, Tait; Crawford, Buchan, Munro; Wilson, Paterson, Taylor, McNab, Witts.
Aberdeen A: Greig; Hannah, Harper; Watson, Macfarlane, Low; Hay, Edwards, Nichol, Edgar, Neilson.

The visitors won the toss, and elected to play towards the Bellslea goal, with the breeze in their favour. The opening exchanges were fairly even until about 15 minutes from the start, when Taylor scored a beautiful goal for the locals. After this reverse Aberdeen had more of the game, Nichol and Neilson testing Milne with rocket shots, which the latter dealt with finely. Aberdeen kept up the pressure, but the local defence, who were in capital form, defied all their efforts, and half-time arrived without further scoring.

On resuming, the homesters made things lively, and Paterson scored a number two after 10 minutes' play. From then to the end, apart from occasional bursts by the local forwards, the visitors were the superior team, but the brilliant work of the local defence kept them out until about 10 minutes from time, when Macfarlane scored with a brilliant effort. Aberdeen strove for the equaliser desperately, but the defence repelled them, and the game finished amidst great excitement.
