Odd Goal
Those who expected the Young Dons to have an easy victory against an immature Third Lanark "A" were soon disillusioned! In the first place the
visitors, instead of being total strangers, had in their ranks two old Pittodrie stalwarts in goalkeeper Herd and left back Smith - and both gave a very good account of themselves. (We sometimes find a transferred player starring in his old haunts!) In the second place, many of the visitors showed, plenty of enthusiasm and staying power, if somewhat lacking in the finer points of the game. They acted as spoilers and followed their mart wherever he went. The result was somewhat frustrating and spoiled the game a bit as a spectacle. The Dons had a lot of the ball but just scrambled home by the odd goal in three.
