Young Dons Held To Draw

KELLY BUSY IN FIRST HALF AT BUCKIE

A benefit match for Frank Smith, the veteran Buckie centre-half, was played at Victoria Park, Buckie, last night, when a large crowd saw Buckie Thistle hold Aberdeen A to a draw?four goals being divided.
Set to face a strong wind, Aberdeen were early on the defensive, Bain having a shot blocked. Following end-to-end play, Duncan sent past off a Cormack corner. Shortly afterwards Thistle took the lead.
Duncan sent over a fine cross for Kelly to partly save Calder's shot and the home centre scored from the rebound. Taylor twice came near counting for the visitors but Phimister saved smartly.
The Dons were playing well against the wind. Two free-kick awards to the visitors were not improved on. and in the next minute Buckie increased their lead. Bain scoring off a Calder pass.
Aberdeen rallied but Brady missed from close in. Just on half-time Phimister partially cleared a shot from Brady but Smith sent over.
McGill shot over from a free kick near the penalty area in the second half. Buckie were hard pressed when Phimister saved from Scott and Taylor.
At the other end Kelly fisted clear dangerous shot from Duncan. Buckie seldom attacked and Ralph reduced the leeway with a grand shot.
Samson grazed the upright with a fine try. It was now all Aberdeen. The Dons forced a corner on the left. Smith sent over a fine ball for Scott to strike the bar, but Ralph flung himself forward and headed in the equaliser.
