This young Celtic team gave us a hard game. I felt we were fortunate to collect both points. Our work rate was very good but our skills left a lot to be desired, out passing at times was shocking and our use of the ball could have been better.
Bad covering in our defence led to Celtic opening the scoring through McCluskey who is a very talented players. Ian Wilson scored our equaliser just before the interval after good play by Ernie Drews and then by Neil Cooper whose hard low cross was hit home by Wilson.
We had some uneasy moments in the second half, John Hather and Bobby Glennie were playing well below form and Doug Rougvie never got into the game and was replaced by Jim Crawford who went into the sweeper position allowing Joe Smith to move forward into midfield. We eventually got the winner with ten minutes to go, John McMaster finishing off a good move by Ernie Drews and Bobby Street.
Andy Geoghegan's return to the goalkeeping spot gave the defence more confidence, and one bit of ball control outside the penalty area gave the spectators something to applaud and would have done justice for George best. Joe Smith's experience pulled us through a tricky spell in the second half and was also a help to Willie Garner. Neil Cooper had a good game up front, although he didn't get his name on the scoresheet he had several good attempts.
