How Stars in Home Team Played.

BROCKVILLE TEAM'S PLUCKY FIGHT.

Eight thousand spectators turned out to see how McLaren, Hill, and Yorston would perform in the Aberdeen reserve team against Falkirk "A" at Pittodrie. It was generally thought that with the inclusion of three first team stars the Pittodrie side would have an easy win, but the club supporters got a shock.

The Brockville side put up a plucky fight, and although beaten by four goals to two, were no means disgraced. McLaren and Hill played quite well without being brilliant.
Aberdeen were well served in defence by Sharp, Legge, and Dickie, while the bright lights in the attack were Yorston and Galloway.
Falkirk's best were Smith, Hodson, Miller, and Brown. The latter pair were outstanding.
Aberdeen started confidently, and after McLaren had shaken the bar with a free kick, Dickie fastened on to a weak clearance by Ferguson to put Aberdeen ahead.
Five minutes later Yorston accepted a Galloway cross to put the homesters two up. Although two goals in arrears, Falkirk did not lose heart, and in a breakaway Miller flashed a Brown pass into the net.
Forceful play by the home mid-line kept Aberdeen on the attack and the visitors' goal had several escapes before Yorston, with a header, increased their lead.
The Brockville team kept pegging away, and were rewarded near the interval when Miller notched a second goal.

Falkirk Attack.

Falkirk held the advantage at the start of the half, and Miller was three times pulled up for offside in the act of going through.
The Aberdeen goal had a narrow escape when Cumming saved from Archibald at the expanse of a corner. The resultant flag-kick saw an exciting melee in the home goalmouth, and Cumming was lucky to keep his charge intact.
At the other end the visitors were very fortunate when Ferguson fell in saving a corner from Galloway, and David, with the 'keeper on the ground, hit the crossbar.
McMeekin, with a smart header from a Beattie cross, increased Aberdeen's advantage.
