A match between these teams in the semi-final for the Aberdeenshire Cup took place at Chanonry ground. There was a very meagre attendance. Teams: Aberdeen: Ritchie; Davidson, McConnachie; Davidson, Henderson, Thomson; Livingstone, Gray, Mackie, Clark, Shiach. University: Gibb; Clark, Foote; Kerr, Finlayson, Low; Macintosh, Mackay, Shivas, Anderson, Clark. The University kicked off', but the play to commence with was tame, neither of the teams allowing good combination. The Aberdeen were not long in rising to superior play, however, and a goal was easily scored. The visitors made an attempt to invade, but their exhibition was mediocre, and Aberdeen again scored twice in succession, and, beating down from the second kick-off, raised their total to four goals. Half-time came without any-further scoring having taken place.
In the second half the University attacked, but had still hard luck, and in a few minutes a goal was got for the Aberdeen off Livingstone. A corner followed with no result. The University now got down, but Ritchie saved his charge. The play was very one-sided, and though the University pressed for some time they achieved nothing. Another goal soon fell to the Aberdeen, and immediately after Gray scored again. From a penalty kick Aberdeen obtained another goal, and shortly before the close added a ninth goal, the result being: Aberdeen, 9 goals; Aberdeen University, 0.
