After playing St. Mirren we travelled the following day to Arbroath, where we held a strong Arbroath side to a no scoring draw. We took the opportunity of playing Mugiemoss Midfield player John Grant, who was one of the best players for the Junior Select when we played them at Pittodrie. John had a good game although he ran out of steam before the end, but we shall have another look at him before the season ends. In the meantime John Gardiner our goalkeeper who plays for the 'Moss' will be keeping us informed on John's progress.
John Gardiner played in goal and he showed up well with his clean handling of the ball, although distribution could be improved upon. However that will come in time. We also had a young schoolboy playing at right back in the second half. He was one of our S signings from Edinburgh, Jim Gourlay and he gave a compentant display for one so young. Andy Watson and Alan Duiguid also came on in the second half and both gave a good account of themselves.
Our team was: Gardiner, Rodgers, Fraser, Gibson, McLeish, Glennie, Scott, Grant, Robb, Brown, Campbell with Gourlay replacing Rodgers, Watson for Gibson and Duiguid for Campbell.
