Campbell Starts Goal Rush

We had no difficulty in beating Queen of the South Reserves at Pittodrie. Two goals by Dave Robb and one each from George Campbell, Eddie Thomson and Dougie Brown did the damage. We had Jim Leighton in goal, as Ally McLean was on first team duty owing to Bobby Clark having tonsillitis. Jim is a provisional signing and plays for Dalry Thistle an Ayrshire Junior team. He gave a very impressive display.
Another youngster on trial was Ian Ferguson an S signing from Eastercraigs. Ian played on the left wing but he took a knock early on and had to be replaced by Dougie Brown. Eddie Thomson making one of his rare appearances in the reserves, didn't look too happy in his midfield role, but had the satisfaction of scoring the best goal of the match. Alec McLeish seemed, to be troubled by the high wind, but he always had Neil Cooper at his side to give him help when needed. One feature of the game was the immaculate display of referee Knowles. He is definitely the best referee we had this season.
