HOME TEAM'S PLUCKY SHOW.
In an Aberdeen and District League match at the princess Royal Park last night, Aberdeen "A" defeated Banff-Macduff United by 4 goals to 2. With the wind in their favour in the first half, Aberdeen accounted for most of the pressure, but their shooting was erratic. Connon opened the scoring at the end of twenty minutes, and Hannah increased the lead with a terrific drive from near midfield. Before the interval Lees added a third goal. In the second half the United showed great improvement in all departments. Their forwards especially worked well together, and when Chalmers got through to beat Lawrie, the point was deserved. A fine solo effort resulted in Connon again registering for Aberdeen, and before the end Paterson, who played well throughout, obtained a second goal for the United. Aberdeen easily deserved their victory, but the United gave a plucky display, and showed great improvement on the form they had previously displayed this season. For the winners the best were Hannah, MacLachlan, Connon, and Robertson.Source: Aberdeen Weekly Journal 15th September 1921
