In their final Aberdeenshire and District League fixture at Pittodrie Park last night, Aberdeen defeated Huntly by three goals to two. Aberdeen are champions of this league and have not dropped a point in any match this season. Huntly gave a spirited display, and although defeated were by no means disgraced. The second string had two juniors on trial - Gunn and Neilson, of Richmond. Both acquitted themselves well, Neilson being responsible for two of the goals and Gunn one.
The first half opened quietly, and was well advanced before Neilson opened the scoring off a cross by Smith. Huntly were having their share of the play, and almost equalised through Sey, who tested Blackwell with two smart efforts. End-to-end play followed for a time, both goals having narrow escapes. Shortly before the interval Ewen equalised with a first-time effort, which Blackwell partly saved. The game had not been long resumed when Gunn gave Aberdeen the lead with a shot from close range. The visitors attacked vigorously, and the Aberdeen goal was somewhat lucky not to fall. Following two fruitless corners, a combined run by the visitors resulted in Smith levelling the scores. The homesters pressed and Gunn with only Laird to beat sent weakly past. Smith on the Aberdeen left had a nice individual run, which resulted in Neilson converting his cross. Huntly continued to play well, and end-to-end play followed until the finish.
