Gibson's Goal(den) Strikes

While Aberdeen's first team enjoyed success at Ibrox, the reserves were struggling at Pittodrie against a Rangers team that proved too strong and experienced on the day. The Light Blues deserved their victory though the Dons tried hard.
The defence was too shaky. Two 16 year-olds were at full back, Gary Smith was injured and Graham Watson was on first-team duty.
The scoring went 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2 before Durrant netted the winner, so Aberdeen's battling qualities were obvious.
It is always disappointing to lost at home but the 16 and 17 year olds in the team will benefit from the experience. Andy Gibson, one more, netted as did Ian Cameron.
The most encouraging feature of the game was the return of Ian Downie after injury. He played in the right of midfield berth before going to left back and was running freely and quickly. A very promising player, Ian will prove his worth when he regains full fitness.
