Dons fans everywhere will be sorry to learn of the passing of a mighty Dons with the loss of Ally Shewan. Known as The Iron Man, Ally was a great servant to the Club in the 1960s playing 300 competetive games and scoring 9 goals. He was also a member of the famous Washington Whips side that made such an impact in the American Soccer League in the summer of 1967.
Years after leaving Pittodrie, Ally returned as a founder member of the Former Players Association and became an Ambassador for the club, a role he played until 2016.
He was a great bloke and as a player he claimed to have been the "dirtiest" in Scottish football, although there were a few contenders for that title in the sixties, including his one-time team-mate Davy Robb.
Those who watched the Dons through the sixties will remember Ally very well. Never one to hide in difficult times, he played his part in the Turnbull revival and will be sorely missed.
