Previously played for Falkirk, Dundee and Barnsley. Came to the Dons during the Second World War playing twice for the senior team including a 6-1 trouncing of his parent club, Dundee United, scoring one of the goals. In 1943 he was the Captain of the London Scottish battalion team. He was quoted in the press as saying that he had played his best games against Aberdeen. Killed in action at Rimini, 5th September 1944 whilst serving with 1st Battalion London Scottish of the Gordon Highlanders. He is buried at the Grandara War Cemetry in Italy.
