Davie signed for Hibernian before the Second World War and played for them on either side of the conflict, including the 1947 Cup Final where he captained the losing side against Aberdeen. In 1950 he transferred to Pittodrie where he played 82 matches before being apponted coach by manager David Halliday. He took over as manager in 1955 and continued in that post till late 1959 when Tommy Pearson took charge. Davie returned to his job as coach/trainer and continued in the job till he retired in 1967.
