The 2000 spectators who braved the elements to witness the Scottish Alliance game between Aberdeen "A" and Hibernian "A" at Pittodrie on Saturday were enthusiasts. The game was all that could have been expected under the conditions.
The visitors in the first half had the benefit of a strong wind, and driving sleet and rain dominated the game during practically the whole period. Taking into account the disadvantages they had to contend with, Aberdeen did remarkably well to cross over with only 2 goals registered against, them. The first goal was by Ness deflecting the ball into the corner of the net, and this was quickly followed another by Gilmour, who bundled Sutherland and the ball into the back of net. Towards the end the half, Ness had to be assisted off the field as the result of a collision with a visiting forward.
The second half opened briskly, but the ground was too heavy and muddy for the pace to continue. Even facing the wind and rain, Hibs more than held their own, and deserved the goal scored by McKay about 10 minutes after the resumption. This further reverse had the, effect of wakening up the home team, and Fisher with a long shot from near the touchline scored the best goal of the match. About 20 minutes from time, as the rain was still coming down in torrents, the referee stopped the game. Final result - Aberdeen A 1, Hibernian 3.
