Mud Larks
The Dons disappointed their supporters by going under to the Albion at Stirling. Even allowing for the shocking conditions, Aberdeen can be faulted for failing to adapt themselves. They played beautiful “carpet football”but it wasn't a day for elaborate footwork. With short passes, the inevitable result was that the ball stuck in the mud.
Ninety Minutes
Apart from a very short spell in the second half, the Dons did try hard. At the finish they were striving as fiercely as they had been at the beginning of the game.
No Luck
In their closing rally, the Dons were really unfortunate. An Archie Glen shot appeared to be deflected when the ball would have beaten the goalkeeper. Even then, the ball looked to be a "scorer," but unluckily for Aberdeen, the ball had lost some of its impetus - and the ground conditions did the rest! The ball landed and stuck in the mud - right on the goal-line! A defender's foot got there first and the "dead ball" was "booted out."
