Rough and Tumble Game at Pittodrie.

I thought the Kirkcaldy game a poor one, but it was streets ahead of the one I witnessed at Pittodrie on Saturday. Of football there was little in it to interest anybody. Rough and tumble work there was plenty to disgust every spectator present. Mr. Hood seemed determined at first to put his foot firmly on the rough work, and had he taken the full use of his powers, by ordering one of the visiting team off the field, he would only have been doing his duty and nothing more. Forfar have quite a new team since last we saw them, and look as if they will be a good lot yet, but they could he doing with less of the nastiness which they incorporate in their play and still win matches. Mitchell kept a splendid goal for them, and the right back (Edward) kept out many a good shot. It seemed as if Dolan wished to have a little diversion of his own with "Gowie" Robertson but the Aberdeen man wasn't having any. The defence of the "whites" was sound, but the forwards played a terribly scrappy game. Ruddiman was out of it at centre, Ellis was worse, Edgar was fair, and only the two wing men upheld their reputations as players. Shiach put in some good work, but I thought the right wing was severely starved of the ball in the second period.

Chatty Bits

In the game at Pittodrie on Saturday it was quite apparent that something will have to be done with the forwards. It is a pity that the good work of the defence should be run to waste for the want of some good shots to cap their work.
Would it not he wise to try the following forwards and keep them going for some time: - Knowles, Ruddiman, Caie, Edgar, and Shiach or Jeffrey. It would make a material difference if the men could be kept together. It will require a strong line to beat St. Johnstone on Saturday, whether at home or away.
