Emma Hunter made two changes to the side that defeated Boroughmuir Thistle last weekend. Jessica Broadrick came into the back four to replace Amy Strath whilst Johan Fraser replaced Donna Paterson. New signing Louise Brown was amongst the substitutes.
Aberdeen almost had the perfect start as they hit the woodwork inside the first minute. Hutchison's cross into the box caused panic in the Queens defence and Bailley Collins close range effort came back off the upright.
Hutchison then went close herself when she got on the end of a defence‐splitting Eilidh Shore pass but Trully Pollard was off her line quickly to deny the striker. Thomson then went close to breaking the deadlock as she saw her snap‐shot from the edge of the box fly over the bar.
The visitors took a deserved lead after twenty minutes as last season's top scorer opened her account for the campaign. Skipper Kelly Forrest played a measured ball over the top of the home defence to find HUTCHISON who took the ball down before rounding the keeper and rolling the ball home.
The Spiders briefly threatened to equalise just a minute later as Louisa Boyes found Demi Potts who fired her shot wide. Francesca Ogilvie then went close at the other end as she fired into the side netting from the edge of the box.
Aberdeen doubled their lead on 32 minutes. Eva THOMSON gathered the ball just outside the penalty area before firing a low shot beyond Pollard in the Queens goal.
It was 3‐0 just a minute later as THOMSON picked up a Hutchison square ball and fired the ball across Pollard and into the far post for her third goal of the season.
The Dons almost added a fourth before half‐time. Ogilvie curled a free‐kick from the angle of the penalty box over the wall but the ball bounced back off the crossbar and was cleared to safety by the home defence.
Eva Thomson almost completed her hat‐trick in the opening minutes of the second period. Ogilvie played Collins in down the left and her cut back found Thomson who saw her shot blocked.
Aberdeen made a change early in the second half with captain Kelly Forrest being replaced by Carrie Doig in the heart of the defence. The visitors continued to dominate possession and looked to stretch their lead. Shore went had a close‐range shot saved as she got on the end of an Ogilvie corner.
Emma Hunter made a double change on the hour as Jo Fraser and Bailley Collins made way for Nadia Sopel and Louise Brown who was making her debut. Sopel almost introduced herself to the game in style as she went close with her first touch. Shore sent Ogilvie down the left and her cross eventually found Sopel arriving at the back post, but her shot flew wide.
A fourth goal arrived on 72 minutes as HUTCHISON grabbed her second of the game. The striker sprung the Queens offside trap near halfway and she raced clear before rolling a composed finish into the bottom corner.
It could've been more for the Dons in the latter stages of the game. Substitutes Sopel and Brown both had late opportunities to score but were both denied by Pollard in the Queens goal as the game finished 4‐0.
Jenna PENMAN: "They are a physical side and they always tried to get after us but I think at time we passed it well and moved them around. The goals came in the first half and we probably should have scored more but all in all we're happy with the result. It means a lot for confidence to get a clean sheet, the defenders don't always get praise in a big win but we're pleased not to concede. The next two games will be harder, they will bring more physicality and will be better on the ball. We'll raise ourselves in training to be ready mentally and physically and we'll look to bring our best game."
Eilidh SHORE: "It was quite a tough game, they made it difficult for us at times. We didn't play as well as we would have liked in either half to be honest so to get four goals and three points is all we could ask for. The first two games were slightly easier on paper than the next two and we havent reached the top of our game yet and when we do, we'll give them a game. We'll play the games the way we want to play and hopefully that will be enough to get the points next week."
