"Augustus C. W. Lowe, centre-forward, is an amateur who worthily upholds the name. He has, apparently, solved the thorny centre-forward position problem which so worried the Aberdeen directors, as in the few games he has played for the club he has given a grand exhibition. Possessing a rare turn of speed, he will, with a little more experience, be a most dangerous man. He learned his football in Preston and Blackburn, and is studying Law in Aberdeen."

A.C.W. Lowe was born on 29th December 1884 in Edinburgh. He was brought up in North Wales by his mother, who originally came from Laurencekirk.
Prior to reading Law at Aberdeen University he was at Stonyhurst College where he was in the Football X1 (1900-1903; in 1903 he scored 25 goals in 8 matches) and the Cricket X1 (1900-1904).
He also won several athletics cups (mainly for sprinting) and played golf, tennis and racquets. So, quite an all-rounder it seems! He subsequently practised as a Solicitor in Buckie, and later retired to Boat-of-Garten where he played golf and loved walking in the Cairngorms. He died there on 4th August 1960.
Although he gave up football (for medical reasons), he later played cricket, scoring 88 for Buckie in 1912, and went on to captain Denbighshire County Cricket Club in 1931-32.
