Marksman Lacking
Lack of a front-line marksman accounts for Aberdeen's failure to score in the goalless first half, when they were much the more impressive team. Hay, McNeil and Newman were all sinners. The centre, however, gave his colleagues a good lead throughout, but found Shaw a tough watchdog. Young was very confident at centre half and the best of the halves. So successful was he in curbing Comrie that Dunfermline switched their left winger, Kelly, to centre after twenty-five minutes' play. McKenna and Rodger were generally safe cover for Watson, but the 'keeper was entirely on his own when the winning goal was scored.
