Scott, like many of the players recent U20's squads, is a local lad from Balmedie and was a part of the AFC Youth Academy since joining the U11s.
Originally a central midfielder, Scott can play on the wing or as an out and out striker. He signed a professional contract with the club in 2014 and although he was still able to play for the U17s he forced his way into the U20s side early on in the season and since then his career has rocketed. His performances in the SPFL Youth League were noticed by the SFA and he was called up into the Scotland U17 squad alongside team mate Michael Kelly.
Scott and Michael both helped the young Scots qualify for the UEFA U17s European Championships and Scott scored the winning goal in the third and final qualifying game - a 1-0 win over Romania. He then scored a famous winner for Scotland against Germany at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship Finals in Malta in 2014.
Scott made his senior debut for the first team in the UEFA Europa League game against FK Daugava Riga in July 2014. As well as an eye for goal, he has lightning pace, plus an awful lot of skill.
On 31st January 2019 Scott agreed to join Dundee FC for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, scoring on his debut at Hamilton on 2nd February. Injury early in season 2019-2020 curtailed Scott's involvement and he was out for the remainder of the season, just returning to fitness when the March 2020 Coronavirus lockdown took place. The Club nursed him back to fitness for the 2020/2021 season, but on January 25th 2021 it was announced that he had signed a pre-contract agreement to join Rangers FC at the end of the season. As part of a deal that made Ross McCrorie a permanent Don, Wright left Pittodrie on 1st February 2021.
