With Aberdeen building connections with football and business in the USA, it was almost inevitable that transatlantic loans would begin to take place. Jon, who had in his youth been coached by Bobby Clark and at Atlanta was being coached by Stephen Glass, became the very first player to arrive on loan from a North American Club.
